2012/14 Completion of Phase 1 main structure

Continued fitting out of new build and alterations to existing building

2011 Demolition and land clearance carried out

Tendering process completed

Building work for first phase commenced

2009/10 Archaeological and environmental surveys and reports completed
2008 Contracts for 999-year lease of the land exchanged (completion July 2011)
2007 Conditions finalised and formal grant of planning permission received
2005 Revised planning application submitted and presented to Planning Control Committee

Planning permission granted subject to agreement on Conditions

2004 Initial planning application submitted, followed by detailed discussions

Chesil Theatre Development Appeal launched

2003 Consultations carried out with interested parties, including City of Winchester Trust, Diocesan Advisory Committee, local community
2000 Architects and quantity surveyors appointed

Feasibility study and estimates completed

Informal discussions held with Winchester City Council Planning Department

1999 Initial approach made to neighbouring land owner St John’s Winchester Charity by Winchester Dramatic Society for a joint redevelopment
