Blood Wedding,  by Lorca, directed by Tom Williams

The long hot summer has not yet arrived but the Chesil Theatre, Winchester, is already planning the new season. For the first production, in October, they have chosen a classic of European theatre.

Blood Wedding by Federico Garcia Lorca, Spain's most celebrated dramatist, is a drama of love, torment and revenge.  This play, written when Lorca was at the height of his powers, is a powerful story of two lovers drawn irresistibly together in the face of an arranged marriage. They risk all despite a bitter feud which has torn their families apart for generations.

Director, Tom Williams, said: “Lorca was a poet, painter, musician and theatre director This passionate and intensely lyrical play is the one on which his international reputation was founded. The action is always enhanced by the poetry and inherent music within the text and offers exciting and challenging opportunities to a large cast.”

New members are always welcome.
