News Item: Chesil Outreach Team at  Swithun Wells school

The Outreach team travelled further than usual this term when they visited the school where Maria Head teaches.

Maria writes: PLAY IN A DAY Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations…and what a day it was! The Chesil team (Lisbeth and Steve Rake and Heather Bryant) came to St. Swithun Wells Catholic Primary School in Chandlers Ford, on Thursday 24th June. They arrived at 9.15am and left at the end of the school day, with not a minute to spare.

The day was certainly action packed and my Year 6 class loved every minute, from the ‘Library, Doctor’s Surgery and Brass Band’ improvisations to the rehearsals and final performance.

I saw the children blossom as they grew into their characters and projected their voices with great confidence. This was of a real benefit to me as I have my own school production at the end of term.

The day ended with a performance to the rest of the school and many of the Year 6 parents. Lisbeth spoke about the day, the Chesil Theatre and the certificates which each child would receive.

The feedback from children and adults was very positive and one of my children asked, “Can we do that again?” “Oh I do hope so,” I replied.

Thank you so much to Lisbeth, Heather and Steve. It was great fun, exciting and a very rewarding experience, not just for the children but also for me.
