This much-loved piece of Shakespearean whimsy exploits to the full the potential for comedy of identical twins – there are two pairs here, parted at birth and accidentally brought together in Ephesus.

For this production we have sited “Ephesus” somewhere in South-East Asia in the colonial ’20s to recreate the buzz of a foreign port with its masters and servants, merchants, prostitutes and quacks.

Tightly-constructed and fast-paced, it’s Shakespeare’s lightest, shortest play. Just fun!

Shakespearian farce: mistaken identities, mishap and mayhem, marriage and mistresses, melodrama and mischief …
