It's a week before Christmas 2009 and the Tories have been in power for six months - with a majority of just three.

They are already facing grumbling from backbenchers and dissent over the latest Bill. The Whips' office is at full stretch and they'll stop at nothing to keep the strays and rebels in line.

But they're in for a long night: boy scouts are rioting in Whitehall and the PM's plane is delayed.

Could this be the beginnings of a leadership challenge?
