Booking opens 23rd June

Playhouse Creatures, directed by Sue Hake, which deals with the end of cross-dressing, telling, as it does, the stories of those women who took to the stage for the first time when the playhouses opened again at the Restoration.

But this is no genteel Restoration comedy – the language is tough, uncompromising and sometimes vulgar, like the women themselves who had to fight for survival in a man’s world. Some lost the battle, some – like Nell Gwynne – achieved celebrity and wealth. [details]
