Our origins and purpose

The Chesil Theatre's Youth Theatre started on an informal basis in the late 1980's as a means of providing drama experience and personal development opportunities for the children of the society's adult members.

Youth Theatre is now a key part of the society's activities and from 1995 have been running on a regular basis with access open to all young people.

Now, when the Chesil Theatre considers its future productions, it knows it can include plays with roles for children safe in the knowledge that a pool of talent exists within the Theatre's two workshops for young people (for school years 5-8 and 9-11 plus 'sixth form').
