Care and safety

The theatre has a number of child care and safety policies in place. At present;

  • All workshop leaders are made familiar with the theatre's health and safety practices and demonstrate these to the children when they join and at the start of each year.
  • All workshop leaders have either been subject to 'child protection checks' and/or have other appropriate references (The majority of our workshop tutors are employed in, or have recently retired from, jobs within the education and care sectors where such checks are routine).
  • Other workshop tutors are required to furnish references and work under supervision.
  • Parents and guardians are welcome to attend and observe workshop sessions at any time.
  • We seek parental consent for the use of photographic images of their children in our publications and for our web-site.

Workshop members are required to sign up to and observe a code of behaviour that seeks to ensure their own safety, fair access to the workshops and to prohibit oppressive behaviour.

The society reserves the right to expel any young member for abuse of the rules - although thankfully it has never had the necessity to do so.
