A comedy of errors relevant for our time. A gentle poignant comedy/drama. Rita, a young working-class woman is dissatisfied with her life and job as a hairdresser. Wanting more, she enrols on an Open University course in English where she is tutored by Frank, a bored academic and poet.

The relationship proves life-changing for both of them – but who teaches and who learns?

Reading and Audition Info.

Our readings are social occasions where Chesil members and members of the public can come and either join in with a read-through of the play, or simply listen in! They give a sense of the play, and the director's vision, but they are not auditions and are open to all. The reading for Educating Rita will be at 7:45pm at the theatre on 5th August 2022.

The cast comprises of 2 roles, one male (a middle-aged university lecturer) and one female (20s/30s, Liverpool accent).
