These eight short pieces have little to do with shunting yards or signal failures. The name derives from the sell-out performances at The Railway Inn earlier this year. The works are shown back-to-back in under 90 minutes and include a range of styles from Beckett to Ionescu, Brecht to Pinter; the absurd jostles with the political, the bleak with the comical. The cast comprises six students in their final year studying drama at the University.
Chesil Theatre’s next main production, running from 18th to 25th November, is a hilarious spoof version of a famous Sherlock Holmes story: The Hound of the Baskervilles. Tickets for this and The Railway Plays are now available from www.chesiltheatre.org.uk.
