Both sections of Chesil Youth Theatre take centre stage for their annual production on 13th and 14th February 2020. Tickets are now available in our booking area.
This year Director Tom Humphreys has chosen two stories from the country’s favourite children’s writer – Roald Dahl. Both have been adapted for the stage by David Wood. In James and the Giant Peach, a lonely orphan boy enters a magical outsized fruit to find living there transformed yet friendly garden insects. This triggers an epic cross-world adventure. The senior group present a darker fantasy, The Witches, involving a quest to outwit the child-hating witches, ruled by a vicious and powerful Grand High Witch. Who will fall prey to their devastating “Formula 86 delayed-action mouse-maker?”
Roald Dahl’s books have sold more than 250 million worldwide and he is best known for his children’s stories. Although these can be unsentimental, often sinisterly comic, they nonetheless champion the kind-hearted and feature an underlying warm sentiment.
James and the Giant Peach and The Witches is presented at the Chesil Theatre, Winchester, on 13th and 14th February 2020 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10, £8 for under 18s, with a family ticket also available. Book here.
