Although it is only August, preparations for Christmas are already underway at the Chesil Theatre, Winchester, where Alan Ayckbourn's black comedy, Season’s Greetings, will shortly be in rehearsal. In Ayckbourn's inimitable style, the script offers sharply defined, if sometimes flawed, characters, plenty of wit and laughter, but also tensions which surface as careful plans go awry and a cheerful family gathering descends hilariously into disaster.
The reading is on Friday September 2nd at 7.45pm followed by open auditions on Saturday 3rd at 2pm and Sunday 4th at 7.45pm - all at the Theatre. Newcomers are always welcome.
Director Peter Liddiard said: “I am thrilled to be directing the second play of the Chesil’s Golden Jubilee Season. Everyone is welcome to the reading to participate, or to just sit and listen. There are five roles for men and four for women – ages anywhere between 20 and 50 - with one older man. I’m very confident that this play will be great fun to perform and very entertaining to watch.”
