The muse has deserted struggling playwright Will Shakespeare. His new play Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate’s Daughter is going nowhere... until the beautiful Viola appears and everything changes. But she is promised to a powerful nobleman. Will risks the wrath of Queen Elizabeth herself. Chaos and comedy ensue. But after all, ‘the course of true love never did run smooth’!

Will Shakespeare – in trouble, in debt, and in love. What could go wrong?

Reading and Audition Info.

Our readings are social occasions where members of the public are welcome to join us reading the play! They give a sense of the play, and the director's vision, but they are not auditions and are open to all. The reading for Shakespeare in Love will be at 7:45pm at the theatre on 25th April 2025.

The cast comprises of 13 males and 7 female, but can be varied to 10 males and 10 females. 3 roles are 20s, otherwise a wide range. Auditions will be held at 7:45pm on 27th and 28th April at the theatre. You do not need to attend both dates and do not need to book to audition, just turn up!
