1940, the Greek island of Kefalonia is catapulted into World War II. Despite loathing the occupying Italians, local girl Pelagia is drawn to the charismatic Captain Corelli. As boundaries blur between friend and foe, the war prompts everyone to question their loyalties, their ambitions and the price of freedom.

An innovative adaptation of Louis de Bernières’ epic novel.

Reading and Audition Info.

Our readings are social occasions where Chesil members and members of the public can come and either join in with a read-through of the play, or simply listen in! They give a sense of the play, and the director's vision, but they are not auditions and are open to all. The reading for Captain Corelli's Mandolin will be at 7:45pm at the theatre on 19th April 2024.

The cast comprises of 8 males and 6 females, ages 20-70, except two children ages 11-14. Auditions will be held at 7:45pm at 21st and 22nd April at the theatre. You do not need to attend both dates and do not need to book to audition, just turn up!
